BIT Launches Full A-Level Scholarship for Outstanding Female Students in Bangladesh

Recognizing the financial and practical challenges that many talented students face after completing their O Levels—particularly female students—Bangladesh International Tutorial (BIT) has introduced a prestigious new scholarship that will provide one outstanding female student with a fully funded A-Level education every year.

Named the Anowara Islam Scholarship, the initiative will cover the entire two-year A-Level program at BIT, including 100% tuition fees and admission fees. According to the institution, this is one of the few scholarship programs among English-medium schools in Bangladesh that fully finances an A-Level education for a high-achieving female student.

BIT announced that the first recipient of the Anowara Islam Scholarship will be revealed in October this year. The scholarship is designed not only to provide financial assistance but also to recognize exceptional academic excellence and leadership potential.

To be eligible, applicants must achieve the highest grades in at least nine O-Level subjects. In addition to academic performance, the selection process will evaluate candidates based on their leadership qualities, participation in extracurricular activities, and positive contributions beyond the classroom. The scholarship recipient will be chosen through a transparent, merit-based selection process.

The scholarship is named in honor of Anowara Islam, whose lifelong belief in the power of women’s education continues to inspire future generations. According to BIT, her vision motivated her daughter, Lubna Chowdhury, to establish Bangladesh International Tutorial (BIT) in 1983.

The scholarship has been introduced by Anika Rahman, a member of BIT’s Board of Directors. She is the daughter of BIT founder Lubna Chowdhury and the granddaughter of Anowara Islam.

Speaking about the initiative, Anika Rahman said, “My grandmother firmly believed that education has the power to transform a woman’s life. Through this scholarship, we want to carry forward that vision by supporting exceptionally talented young women. We hope it will inspire and empower the next generation of female leaders.”
