Masood Parvez alias Sohel Rana

Asaduzzaman Noor formally entered politics in 1963 by joining the then East Pakistan Students Union. In 1975, he was elected General Secretary of the Student Parliament of Nilphamari College. He actively participated in the great liberation war of 1971. After the independence of the country, he joined the Communist Party. Later, in mid-1996, he joined the Bangladesh Awami League. He was elected as a Member of Parliament from Nilphamari-2 constituency in 2001, 2008 and 2013. After forming the Awami League government in the 10th parliamentary elections held on 5 January 2013, he took charge as the Minister of Culture in the newly formed cabinet on 12 January. So far he has been fulfilling that responsibility with great success.

Syed Hasan Imam is a Bangladeshi actor, reciter and a leading figure in the democratic movement against dictatorship and communalism. He started acting in films in 1970. Under the pressure of the mass movement, the Pakistani government was forced to hand over the responsibility of radio and television to the agitated artist community from March 7. After 25 March, Hasan Imam moved to Mujib Nagar and joined the war of liberation and in 1971 became the head of the drama department of Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra.

During the war of independence of Bangladesh in 1971, he sang many songs including ‘Salam Salam Hazar Salam’ and ‘Joy Bangla Banglar Joy’ from Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra to inspire and motivate the freedom fighters. Many people took part in the liberation war inspired by his songs. He also worked with renowned Indian vocalist Hemant Mukherjee during the war to create public opinion in favor of Bangladesh’s war of independence in various parts of Mumbai. At that time, he visited the camps of the freedom fighters of Bangladesh in Calcutta and played harmonies and performed folk songs, which inspired the freedom fighters. He also donated Rs.
