In a spectacular display of linguistic brilliance and academic grit, the young minds of Team Bangladesh have carved their names on the global stage. Competing at the prestigious Asian Spelling Bee Cup 2026, held in Shanghai, China, from July 12 to July 19, 2026, the Bangladeshi contingent secured a historic haul of trophies, medals, and cash prizes, signaling a bright future for the nation’s academic talent.

The delegation primarily comprised brilliant young minds from Dhaka’s renowned Emerald International School (EISD), who went head-to-head with top spellers from across Asia, North America, and Africa.

The Champions’ Roll: Award Winners and Accolades

The young spelling maestros dominated multiple categories, proving their mettle through grueling, high-pressure rounds. Here is how Team Bangladesh performed at the tournament:

  • Yusuf MD Shafiq: Emerged as the 1st Runner-Up in his Group Level and secured a phenomenal 7th Place globally in the Spelling Bee World Cup. He was awarded a trophy, a medal, three certificates, and a $250 cash prize.
  • Hamza Zulkifle Bin Muhammad: Clinched the 1st Runner-Up spot in his Group Level and achieved 9th Place globally in the World Cup, walking away with a trophy, a medal, three certificates, and a $250 cash prize.
  • Shahnan Sabit Nirjhor: Secured the 2nd Runner-Up position in his Group Level, earning a trophy, a medal, two certificates, and a $150 cash prize.
  • Safiyyah Bint Tareq: Finished strong at 4th Place in her Group Level and ranked 10th Place globally in the World Cup, receiving a medal and two certificates.
  • Amr Eesaa Bin Muhammad: Ranked among the Top 12 in his Group Level, earning the prestigious ‘Gold Award Certificate’ and a medal.
  • Muhammad Bin Tareq: Made it to the Top 10 in his Group Level, also securing a ‘Gold Award Certificate’ and a medal.

The Road to Shanghai

The journey to this grand international platform was facilitated by Edupro Concepts Bangladesh Ltd., the official country partner for the Asian Spelling Bee Cup. Through rigorous national-level selections and grooming, these students were prepared to handle the immense pressure of international competition, ultimately outspelling hundreds of participants from various continents.

Following their historic victory, the triumphant students were honored back home, where they met with the State Minister for Primary and Mass Education of Bangladesh. The Minister lauded their efforts, noting that these young achievers have not only brought glory to their families but have also raised the national flag high on a premier global platform.

First Love Centre Bangladesh (Edupro Concepts Bangladesh), the official country partner of the Asia Spelling Bee Cup, has announced the successful participation of Team Bangladesh at the Asia Spelling Bee Cup 2026, held in Shanghai, China, from 12 to 19 July.

Competing alongside young learners from across Asia, North America and Africa, Team Bangladesh delivered a strong performance, showcasing the country’s growing excellence in literacy, communication and academic achievement.

Throughout the week-long programme, the Bangladeshi delegation also took part in cultural exchange activities, built friendships with participants from around the world and represented Bangladesh on the international stage.

Commenting on the team’s performance, Juliana Lawson, Executive Director of First Love Centre Bangladesh (Edupro Concepts Bangladesh), said, “Our students have demonstrated that with determination, preparation and the right support, Bangladeshi children can stand shoulder to shoulder with some of the brightest young minds in the world. Every participant represented our nation with excellence, humility and confidence, and we are immensely proud of them.”

She added, “This achievement belongs not only to our contestants but also to their parents, teachers, schools, coaches and everyone who believed in them throughout this journey. We hope these accomplishments will inspire many more young learners across Bangladesh to discover the joy of reading, expand their vocabulary and believe in their ability to compete internationally.”

The organisation also announced that preparations for Bangladesh’s participation in the next Asia Spelling Bee Cup, scheduled to be held in Beijing, China, in July 2027, will begin in the coming months.

Edupro Concepts Bangladesh invited schools, parents and students across the country to take part in the selection process and encouraged young learners to develop strong reading habits, expand their vocabulary and practise spelling to prepare for future international competitions.
