Winner list of the event SOS ( Save Our Souls): A Poster Making Competition
 
Hekimkhana,an organization which is ambitious for establishing a connection between the mass people and healthcare & medical sector by unraveling the complexities of health information and making it easy to understand. Because of a huge gap of knowledge, inequalities in the health sector persist.
Raising awareness is a key plank for the people approaching palliative health care. In order to take this initiative towards mass people, Hekimkhana launched an event “SOS(Save Our Souls):A Poster Making Competition”. The purpose of this event is to find out creative minds among mass people and make them interested in presentation and sharing health related knowledge.
The competition started on 12th October, 2020 and ended on 26th October,2020. There were two categories of this competition: Digital posters and handmade posters. The participants were told to make the posters about health-related info-graphic, awareness or campaign posters or any information related to health and well being of humans. More than 100 participants took part. The submitted posters were judged by honorable judges.70% mark was carried on from judges’ remarks and 30% from people’s reactions.
As judges,there were present Dr. Sayed Ghulam Magni Mowla (Associate Professor,Department of Medicine,Dhaka Medical college),Dr. Partho Pratik Roy(Lecturer,Department of Anatomy,Shaheed Suhrawardy medical college), Mazharul Islam Shuvo ( Lead VFX Artist,Nightfire productions,Los Angeles,California),Tamim Anju (Charecter designer and comic artist).

The result was published on 1st November,2020 through a live session from the facebook page of Hekimkhana. Dr.Tasdik Hasan(MBBS,MPH-Epidemiology,PGDDM,MSc-GMH) was invited as a guest for the result ceremony.

Star Shah Rukh vs Fan Shah Rukh

Going to act in a movie after a break of three years. What is the reason for staying away from acting for so long?

I have never announced that I will not act. Was busy with business work; Even after that, as much time as I got, I tried to find time for acting. Although I have not acted in movies, I have worked in dramas and web series. The kind of story and character I was looking for in the movie didn’t work because I hadn’t found it so far. Although it was a little late, this time I had to work on a story of my choice, so I broke the break and started acting in movies again.

Is the character of ‘Biratta’ completely different from your previous movies?

No similarity can be found between the character of any previous movie and the character of Lutfa in ‘Biratta‘ I was looking for a character like Lutfar to return to the movies. That’s why when director Saidul Islam Rana offered to play the role of Lutfa, I didn’t think about it a second time. There seemed to be something good to hear about the story, the characters and the construction plans.

Saidul Islam Rana has never directed a movie before. After all, what is the reason for being so optimistic about the movie ‘Biratta’?

No matter what I call a good or different kind of picture, the first condition is that the story, dialogue and screenplay should be good. Reading the story of ‘Biratta‘, it seems that it is different from the stories of other films of this period. Although Saidul Islam Rana has never directed a movie before, he has a good idea about production. He has worked for the small screen before. Know how to plan for a good job. The way the movie has used the whole team, the work is being done as planned. This is the real reason for becoming optimistic.

If the movie ‘Biratta’ is a commercial success, will it be seen regularly on the big screen?

Work has nothing to do with the success or failure of a movie. As long as I act, I will try to do something good. As I am involved in business care as well as public awareness work, I will not be able to give time to acting like before. That’s why I’m saying goodbye to acting – it would be wrong to think so.

What does the movie theater look like now?

Almost everyone knows that the condition of the film arena is not the same as before. When I started acting in 2006, 10 to 12 movies were released every Eid. Then the number decreased from seven to eight. And now many people are sweating to release more than two to three movies.

So much for the movie. The previous sincerity among the artists is not noticeable. Everyone finds fault with everyone. Discussions and criticisms go on all day long about who did what and who didn’t. While no one wants to understand it, there is no point in finding fault with each other. Rather, it would be better to find fault with one’s own work and correct it. Everyone has to fight shoulder to shoulder for the betterment of the film industry.

They are screaming in the fair named ‘Amor ekushe grantha mela’. There were a lot of stalls of food in the fair more than the bookstall. Most of the peoples spending their time eating foods, taking selfies, and watching books at the fair. And the hotel boys were desperately screaming to attract customers for their interim food services.

“This food was expired, you son of a bitch.” Someone is shouting from the stall located in the backside of the fair.

Ow! Probably I know the man. He is an author of the book named ‘Behind the screen.’ He used to be a YouTuber now he is a writer. Such talent! Isn’t it?

I saw a stall named ‘Vrammo-lipi’ with a few classical books displayed in front. There was a beautiful lady in the stall who was interestingly staring at me.

I asked for ‘Baraf Gola Nodi’ authored by Jahir Rayhan, and she reacts something. She reacts like she didn’t hear the name before. She thought I’m the kind of guy who came into the fair for the first time. So, she suggested a book. The book has a glorious cover with the name ‘Nishiddho-polli’. I smiled at her and left the place.

There were some writers with a fancy smile on their faces. I saw a new writer with her family. Her name is ‘Mouri Maya’. The name of the book she published this year is ‘Sadly married bachelor.’ I think she is a good writer. But I didn’t buy her book because of that name.

I saw a live talk-show shooting and telecasting in the fair. Some peoples were gathering there and staring at them with a deep concentration. I don’t know if they understand anything discussed on the talk-show. They are just busy taking selfies.

I saw Mr. Ariful Haque walking (almost running) from one stall to another holding a book in his hand named ‘Ekhoni Themona’. This gentleman is carrying the legacy of Their family, isn’t it? Oh! What a big responsibility in his shoulder. Such a responsible man he is. A responsible man of irresponsible work. And, whoever is buying his book, he is taking a selfie with him and giving autographs. And if the person is female he seems to be enjoying.

Barrister Rafiq-ul Haq is an icon of the Supreme Court

Barrister Rafiq-ul Haq was my guardian. My icon. Just why me, he was the icon of all junior barristers. As unique as he was as a lawyer, he was also unique as a man. In his death, Bangladesh lost a good child. And the Supreme Court lost a mahiruh of law. We lost one of the son of the Golden Age in Law field.

I was a direct student of Barrister Rafiq-ul Haq. I first saw him at Dhaka University in 1986. One day I am sitting in front of the law faculty. We students are waiting for the class of Barrister Rafiq-ul Haq. In the meantime, a tall, slender man walked straight in front of us and entered the classroom. I still don’t know him. In the meantime the news came that the class has started. I ran. I see he is in Dias. Then I realized that this is Barrister Rafiq-ul Haq. I have known him since then. Within a few days I was able to get his attention.

In 1969 I went to his chamber after the test. I went there and saw a gathering of many people. So many books. I have never seen so many books in anyone’s house before. He used to buy books whenever he got them. When he went abroad, he would bring a book full of briefcases. The junior lawyers in his chambers are sitting here and there. It was great to see the chamber. I passed the law. Then I went to London to do bar-at-law. While studying there, he came to my house one day. Then I passed the bar and returned to the country in 1986. He was the first to invite me to lunch after returning to the country. I was surprised. Hearing this, he said, it is the rule. If someone passes the barrister, the senior will feed him.

Barrister Rafiq-ul Haq had a gentle mind. Just as he has earned crores of taka in his life, so he has spent equally with both hands. Many hospitals, orphanages and colleges have been established with his money. He used to give regular donations to many hospitals. Beyond that, it is up to him to personally account for how many people he has helped. He also twice wanted to help me financially. But I could not get financial help from him. Once in 2006. When my daughter was in London. She had a tumor on her head. One day during that tumor operation, Barrister Rafiq-ul Haq Sir offered me financial assistance. Another time in 2009. This time for my wife. But I could never get financial help from him. Because I was a judge then.

 

Barrister Rafiq-ul Haq strictly observed the rules and regulations. He also forced the juniors to abide by it. Lime was not protected from drinking. He used to get out of bed at 5 am regularly. He used to prepare himself for the hearing of the case. Arriving in court fully prepared, he would present arguments in a way that I could not. I remember sitting in the court in 1967-6. He is keeping submissions in English in a hurry. We all listen to Justice as if enchanted. He had a stunning presentation. No matter how tough the case is, he makes it easy, his pair is fair in presenting it fluently. At the hearing, he would make references to different cases with each argument. I practiced regularly before becoming a judge. I have defeated a lot of big lawyers then. But I never defeated  Barrister Rafiq-ul Haq.

Barrister Rafiq-ul Haq sometimes lost his temper during court hearings. No judge ever said anything about his behavior. Didn’t think of anything. Because, the hearing of Barrister Rafiq-ul Haq was such that no one wanted to miss it.

Barrister Rafiq-ul Haq was the directorate of constitution and company law. He was involved in making many laws in Bangladesh. I have known him for 53 years. Barrister Rafiq-ul Haq was like the Himalayas in Law Field. He was an apolitical man. Did not do politics. He would tell the truth frankly. He was a true patriot. I lost a guardian in his death. Bangladesh lost a good son.

Ritaz Al-Hajmi

Ritaz Al-Hajmi, an 11-year-old Saudi girl, is hoping to be nominated for the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s youngest novelist. Hajmi sets her own goals at the beginning of writing. Hazmi said the limited number of novels for children my age encouraged me to write about it. I am trying to write to fill this void. Moreover, my aim is to create a new world of knowledge about science and technology. Hazmi felt the influence of JK Rowling in her writing. In addition to rolling, Jessica Brody’s workshop contributes greatly to the quality of writing.

Health related Organization Hekimkhana has recently hosted their first online competition ‘SOS (Save our souls): A poster making competition’. The purpose of this event is to find creative minds among the mass people and make them interested in presenting and sharing health-related knowledge.

Hekimkhana was founded with a noble purpose of providing standard health service to people irrespective of their socioeconomic status. Their target is to create a platform for healthcare where people will find doctor consultation, health tips (video, audio and writing format) and many more. Their work has been started via the Facebook page.

The competition is being held in two categories-

1)     Digital posters

2)     Handmade posters.

The competition is open for all. Participants are allowed to submit their posters both in Bangla and English or mixed. Not only her outstanding looks, but also her acting talent made her strong position in Hindi cinema in the fifties by impressing Nargis and Meena Kumari. He ascended to the pinnacle of fame and glory in his short career from 1947-1980. But could not avoid the cruel destiny. I was watching a documentary on how a former under-aged bride spoke out in Pakistan. The whole documentary reminded me of the fact that it is a big fortune for a female in South Asia to be born in a privileged family and to live in a society that despises child marriages and is unprecedented about it. In Asian countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh child marriage is a social norm still in practice. So, what is the root cause of child marriage?

Some will say it is solely the economic deprivation of people in rural areas. Some will say it’s their way of protecting females in the society. However, in my opinion, it is the after-effect of all the reasons mentioned above.

Child marriage still prevails

In Bangladesh, the legal marriageable age for a female  is 18. Yet, it is not improvised fully. There are many instances out there that makes us understand the problem very well. A doctor shared her opinion regarding this. She states, “Being from a South Asian country, I second that child marriage still exists in our society. I see young girls coming to us in our Hospital being pregnant at the young age of 14-15. They face lots of complications “.  It is actually the mindset of people that needs to be changed first.

We should tackle the issue from a societal level. Rather, we try to do it from an economic perspective. People have to label sexualizing a young child’s physical growth as a taboo. We can address the entire problem from  grassroots level through educating men of previous to present generations from the poor states all over South Asia.

The marriage certificates fabricate the age in many cases. Hence, they do not get caught. We have to showcase issues like these more to raise awareness. I encourage people to voluntarily participate in child marriage awareness program. Consequently, we can eradicate this tradition from our society. Through seminars and social media, we need to make young girls aware of their self-worth, mental health, and physical health.

The young girls should know that their only option in life is not getting married and maintaining a household. They can be fully independent and pursue their own dreams. Therefore, we need to address the problem from the very root to make it successful.

Once upon a time, two friends went hunting in a dense forest. They have been friends since childhood. They had adequate bonding between them and they trust each other in any case.

It was a dense forest. And the density of trees make the trouble to find the way out. But it was a challenge and an adventure to them to hunt in this jungle. They both were insanely stubborn child, so, in a morning, they left out for a hunt.

Walking by the jungle, they were gossiping. The elder one between them ask to the younger one,

“Will you leave me and climb a tree if such a bear come?”

“No, I don’t know how to climb a tree.” Said the youngest of them.

An eagle was sitting on the trunk of a tree and looking at them. A snake passed by them in a strange silence. And none of them noticed anything.

“And you? What would you do if a bear came?” The younger one asked his friend.

“Run. I don’t know how to climb a tree, I don’t know how to act like dying. So, I would run.” The elder one replied.

Few moments later, they saw a fawn nearby and started chasing it.

As they chased the fawn they plunge into the deep forest. They had no consciousness while chasing the stag.

Suddenly they realized that they had lost their way to go back home. They stopped chasing the deer. And they got frightened. Already the sun started moving to the West. In this mysterious jungle, night falls very early. They both weren’t sure about what to do in this situation. The youngest of them cried out desperately,

“Is anyone here?”

No answer came from anywhere, only his words echoed back again and again. The night was dark and full of terrors. The owl in the trees began to move. As it happens, They found a large trunk of a tree and spend the night over there.

 

In the next morning, the little boy felt thirsty. So they started looking for water instead of searching the way to go home. The jungle was specious. They couldn’t find a drop of water anywhere. They hunt for water until the noon. The sun was scorching over their head. And they started getting tired.

 

Eventually they found a huge cavity where the water was far below.

The older one between two had a large leather bag in his shoulder. The younger one began to lift water through the bag with the help of a rope.

But he was tired. So that he couldn’t lift the water bag.

Seeing him felt, the older boy said,

“You can’t. Give It to me.”

But the little boy was insanely stubborn so he kept trying.

The older boy said to him again,

“Give It to me. You can’t.”

And the little boy kept on trying not to listen to his friend.

 

Seeing no other way, the older boy pulled the rope from the little boy’s hand and began to lift water bag by himself.

But he was tired too. After trying to grab the water bag for a while, he fell into the depth with his eyes closed. The little boy was terrified to see his friend fall. The older boy started screaming from the bottom of the cave,

“Pull me, get me out of here.”

Soon the little one started trying to lift his friend from the pit with a rope. He tried and tried and tried. He tried hard. He kept on trying until the evening. And finally, he managed to lift his friend from the hole.

After being saved, the older boy asked his little friend,

“You couldn’t lift the water bag from the cave but how did you pull me out of It?”

The boy took a moment, looked into his friend’s eyes, and answered into his sluggish voice,

“Because I didn’t have anyone here to say, ‘you can’t’.”

Youth organization Brilliant Resources recently hosted an online competition, IGNITE TALENT, focusing on developing the extracurricular activities of students. The main aim of the competition was to encourage creativity among youths.

Brilliant Resources was founded to help O’level and A’level students from around the world with free educational resources including notes, practice questions materials, etc. and help students develop their extracurricular activities through various competitions, webinars, etc. They are supporting the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) number 4. All the educational resources ensure complete revision for exams and are available for free through their website and Facebook page. Before distribution, all the educational resources follow an extensive review process to ensure maximum quality and clarity for proper understanding. Since it’s inception, Brilliant Resources has helped more than 10,000 students of IGCSE & IAL through their Facebook Page.

The competition was organized by 3 A’level students from Maple Leaf International School. The series of competitions were divided into different segments as Photography (Mobile & DSLR), Music (Solo/Team), Art & Painting (Digital/Traditional), Project Idea Presentation, Essay Writing in both Bengali and English, Poetry Recitation (Bangla), Olympiad (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), Math Challenge, HTML Challenge & Chess Competition. The Olympiad was divided into two categories as under 18 and above 18 according to International Competition rules. To ensure fairness and prevent plagiarism in Olympiad, HTML Challenge & Maths Challenge, the exams were conducted in highly professional exam marker software with candidate’s screen recording & live video recording features.

“Every idea has the power to shape our world. IGNITE TALENT is a platform, where creative people can showcase their ideas,” shared Dibakar Roy, Founder & CEO.
Zanita Ahmed Zhilik, Mozzem Mostakim, Md. Sohan Haider, Oishik Jawad, Ahmad Asif Sami are among other notable personalities who participated as judges of the competition.
Sponsors of the Competition are Bashundhara Cement and Raja Metal.
Partners of the event include Bhaatbank, Ignite Youth Foundation, Interactive Cares, Smartifier Academy, Radio Carnival, Skillshare Education, Oroddho Health, The House of Arts, Teenagers, Protyush & YouVelop.

The Competition ended on 31 August with about 3500 national participants and 200 international participants. Participants include from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Nepal, USA, Canada, Australia, Philippines, Guinea, Liberia & Nigeria.

The participants and awardees will be presented with certifications and prize money. All the certificates will be verifiable with a unique identification code to ensure the authenticity of the certificates issued. The exhibition began on 17 September on their Facebook Page. The result will be announced on 21 September 2020.

In the dawn of the 20s, the COVID-19 pandemic has pushed the timeline of
mankind in a different direction as if an alternate timeline. This very pandemic has
taught us the value of interactions, people, workplaces, environments, schools,
communities, friends, families, and life itself. When we are caged in our own home
or should I say house arrested just to flatten the curve, it is really important to stay
motivated to stay out of depression and most importantly allowing time to oneself.

Generally, the concept of allowing time oneself is replaced by the word entertainment. Entertainment obviously is one of the fundamental necessities of human life. The one disadvantage of being a human is we cannot work like robots we need distractions to increase productivity so we cannot think a day without modes of entertainment. Some like reading books, its like diving in the ocean of knowledge to know the unknown. Some like watching movies/series/anime, which are becoming a popular source of entertainment in this century. Who doesn’t like to drown with Jack and cry for Rose while watching Titanic!  Or there is none who does not feel the flow of rages when Thanos got the sixth stone and perished half of the world! Although I have found some of my friends who are fans of Thanos. Or is it “I am Iron Man”??  No one can hold one’s tears back in the eyes while watching Miracle in Cell No 7!

People like to think out of the box. It’s the prerequisite of inventions. When you read ‘Tin Goyenda’ or ‘Feluda’, some of you may think to create some characters like these, again when you read ‘A thousand of Splendid Sun’ you may think yourself as Mariam and you may have better stories to tell! There comes writing stories, another form of entertainment.

While buying a mobile phone, one of the main priorities of us is a nice camera with greater megapixels, variable apertures, Sony or Samsung Sensors, and whatnot. Photography is a reflection of one’s visualization. Nowadays it got so much popularity as a mode of hobbies also a career. People of different ages are found to click, edit, and upload photographs on Facebook, Instagram, and all social media as a form of entertainment. Lastly music, it is hard to find anyone who doesn’t hum his favorite song even a little every day. Many of us also choose music as a soothing form of entertainment.

Retaliation of nature

Once upon a time, there was a master of martial art who had his own camp for practice. He used to sit and train his students. Many did not see him walk. Most of the time he had been seen sitting.

One day a senior player was walking alone in the field. And he was limping. seeing the player, a little boy asked his master,

“Master! Why is this man walking like a crippled?”

The master said,

“That man has only one ball under his Trouser, that’s why.”

The little boy got shocked and replied,

“But how? How is this possible?”Retaliation of nature

Master said,

“He lost one of his balls in 1971 at the independent war.”

The boy said, “seriously? How did he lose that?”

“Because He said to the military that he has two balls under his trouser. That was the fucking reason.”

The master started laughing. And The boy plunged into deep thought.

The boy took time and asked,

“Why is a man going to say that he has two balls when everyone knows all men have two generally?”

Master replied with a chuckle,

“Because he has three balls in the past actually. And the military was checking under his trouser whether he is Muslim or not. But the stupid man thought the military was checking his balls”

After saying this whole story about the player who was limping on the field the master started laughing loudly. The little boy has remained silent. Thinking about the story the master said to him moments ago.

Seeing the little boy quite-

master told him,

“Don’t think much about It, my boy.”

The boy said,

“Master! You are joking, right?”

Master said,

“Oh, my boy! My smart boy! You got me. Yes, I am joking. Now keep your concentration on Stretching. Otherwise, It may cause you hamstring injury.”

Actually, The truth was, master Used to hate that senior player who was ruled out of the Olympic Last year due to his hamstring injury.

A few years later, the master got injured by cancer in his own balls and there was no way to keep him alive without cutting one of his balls out of two. The doctors cut his ball and saved his life.

After this happens, one day the Master was coming towards the field for teaching. And the boy was the first time seeing his master walking. The master was cramping. And the little boy asked,

“Master! Why are you walking like a crippled?”

Master didn’t like the word ‘crippled’ from his student. So he replied,

“Oh, my boy! My sweet boy! Did you remember the story I told you about a man who lost his ball in 1971 at the independent war? That man was no-one but me.”

The little boy said,

“Oh, master! I feel pity for you.”

Master replied with sorrow,

“Don’t Think much about It, boy. Keep concentration in your stretching. And remember, Never make jokes at someone’s plight.”
